I love my job as mayor. I love my family (wife, children, and brothers). I will do anything to make sure they're safe and sound and very protective over them, especially my daughter who is my baby girl. I am a doting father and husband and they are my life. I try to keep a level head about things but when it comes to protecting them, I can get quite fierce. I know I'm in the public eye as mayor, so I continuously work at keeping that temper reeled in.

I am a part of the Wild Wolves MC and consider them my extended family as well, but with being mayor, I put that position with the club in the backseat while I focus on my mayorship. That doesn't mean I don't love to ride because when I can, I am always up for a good ride, especially if my wife comes with! That's one of my favorite things in the world and I'm not afraid to let everyone know it.

The Deverauxs, Falcons, Garards, Jameses, Morgans, Morettis, and Thomases are the seven founding families of Big Sky, Montana. Through the years the families have grown with the town. They are all connected in at least that way, but for my family, the Garards, my connection tot he Thomas family comes with my marriage to my wife. However, that's getting a little ahead of myself.

I was the first born to Justice and Liberty Garard and my name is Jacob Lee Garard. Growing up in Big Sky, Montana was an amazing experience. I always knew that I would do something with my life that helped others. Even going through school, I tried to make sure everyone felt as if they were an equal and put bullies in their places if I saw them trying to bully another. I guess you can say that I was friends with everyone, but even that didn't keep me completely out of trouble.

I have seen the principal's office more times than anyone can really count, but my mother always said that boys will always be boys. She never got mad when she was called about me being in trouble. Truthfully, as I got older, the times I was sent to the principal's office got less and less, but that's only because I learned to reel in my antics. Usually, it was hitting a bully that got me sent there, but other times, there were things that truly were the definition of my mom saying boys will be boys. Not only that, it was also usually with my best friend Tyler James at my side that I would get in trouble too.

I started to really like girls when I turned about 10 years old, however, I had the biggest crush on one girl in particular. Her name was Candace Thomas and I've done some things to really go out of my way to make sure she noticed me. Some of those things included getting put in detention for things like sneaking in to the school to decorate the entrance hall with banners, streamers, and balloons to ask her out on a date. Honestly, if the prinicipal didn't check the security cameras, I'm sure they would've thought it was a prank or something. However, I was completely serious about anything to do with Candy. I proved it when I showed up early that day to make sure I caught her as she walked in the school and saw what I had done in hopes that she wouldn't turn me down and just laugh about it. Detention was worth it though. I had to also clean up what I had done, but I didn't care about that either.

Going through high school, I knew that I wanted to go to college for Political Science as well as Economics. I found those topics interesting and knew they could help me get a career that could help support my family without any strain on financials, not that I cam from a poor family, but I didn't want to rely on my family for anything once I graduated high school.

Things took a turn when Candy ended up pregnant in high school. That wasn't in my plans, and I'm sure not in hers either, but I was willing to make sure my plans included supporting Candy and our child. Our son Jacob Lee Garard Jr. was born our senior year and I stepped up and did what I needed to do. I loved being a father and I still do to this day, making sure Candy and Jake, and then my other children when they eventually came along, came first in all of my decisions from then on.

I proposed to Candy during our graduation. As she walked the stage to get her diploma, I made my way to the base of the steps where she would come down to go back to her seat and waited there on one knee with a ring held out to greet her. I was a nervous wreck, but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and raise Jake as well as any other children we would have together. Thankfully, she said yes, and I kissed her after putting the ring on her finger and there was an eruption of cheers around us. I didn't care I interrupted the graduation, but then again, I didn't care because it was for Candy.

Even though Candy and I had a baby, I still made a point to go to college, just like I had planned. Thankfully, my parents were happy to help with Jake, so I was able to focus on passing my college courses. During college, I joined the motorcycle club Wild Wolves with my best friend Tyler. We prospected together and having a baby and going to college made it a little harder, but I managed to get through it, fully patching in a year later.

I graduated with my associates degrees in Economics and Political Science and soon after found out Candy was pregnant again. This time, we had things in order and on track, so it felt natural that we were growing our family at that time.

Our son Dylan was born when Jake was about 3 years old and then two years later, we welcomed another son named Lawson. It wasn't but a few months after Lawson was born that Candy got pregnant again, but this time it was with twins. This time, though, not only were we blessed with another son named Felix, but our baby girl Ashleigh was born as well. Life felt complete at home finally and I couldn't have been happier.

Then I had the wild idea to run for mayor, Candy being my number one supporter. I was surprised when I actually won the mayorship, but felt as if it was truly meant to be. The MC was happy for me and understood when I said I was going to have to put being mayor first, but the club was truly an extension of my family and that was one of the things that I cared the most about.

So now here I am: Mayor of Big Sky. I just hope everything goes to plan as it has been for the last 20 years now.
